Check Cashing

We offer check cashing that is fast, easy and affordable! You can cash checks – government, handwritten, two party, insurance, tax refunds, payroll – and get your cash immediately upon approval. It’s easy to enroll, and there is no checking account required. You just pay a percentage of the check amount – between 2% and 5%.

Overdraft Services

There are so many demands for your time; your family, your job, and your community… just to name a few. At United Bank, we realize that you won't always have time for your checkbook. Our overdraft protection products are safety nets that provide you with both convenience and peace of mind.

Sweep Account – Use Your Own Funds as Overdraft Protection
Protect yourself from unnecessary overdraft fees by linking a checking, savings, or money market account to your primary account. This allows for funds to be automatically transferred or "swept" from the secondary account to fund transactions/checks for more than can be covered in your primary account.​ Fees may apply.

Overdraft Protection Line of Credit
With an Overdraft Protection Line of Credit, your checking account is covered up to the amount of your line of credit. It protects you from overdrafts and from having transactions denied for insufficient funds. Funds are automatically transferred when you exceed your checking account balance. To cover the transaction(s), funds are transferred from your line of credit to your checking account. You will receive a monthly statement detailing any outstanding balance used on the overdraft line of credit. Fees may apply.

Overdraft Privilege
Overdraft Privilege is a service we add to your checking account to cover inadvertent overdrafts, subject to the eligibility criteria as explained below. With Overdraft Privilege we will generally pay your overdraft items up to $500.00 total; however, whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts. Both the amount of the overdraft items and all applicable fees, including but not limited to the overdraft fees, are included in this $500 limit. All deposits to overdrawn accounts are applied to the negative balance.

Overdraft Privilege Eligibility
No application is required for Overdraft Privilege; eligibility is at the sole discretion of the Bank and is based on you managing your checking account in a responsible manner. Your Overdraft Privilege may be suspended or permanently removed based on the following criteria:

  • You do not bring your account to a positive balance within 30 days of becoming overdrawn.
  • You are more than 30 days past due on any Bank loan or delinquent on any other obligation to the Bank.
  • You are subject to any legal or administrative orders, levy, or are currently a party in a bankruptcy proceeding.
  • You have an outstanding balance on an Overdraft Repayment Plan.
  • You are a minor.
  • An Equifax or any other negative indicator has been reported to us.
  • Your account is classified as dormant.
  • Your account type is not eligible (i.e. Gateway)
  • Account is being reviewed for fraudulent activity or transactions
  • You have unresolved prior loss with the Bank
  • We do not have a valid address for you
  • We believe you are not managing your account in a responsible manner which may harm you or us.

Transactions Eligible for Overdraft Privilege
Overdraft Privilege will be available for all checks written, in-person withdrawals, ACH transactions, preauthorized automatic transfers, internet banking and telephone banking. Overdraft Privilege will not be available for ATM and everyday debit card transactions unless you authorize the bank by completing an ATM/Debit Card Consent Form.

NOTE: If you have consented to Overdraft Privilege for ATM transactions, please verify your balance before initiating an ATM cash withdrawal. All overdrafts will be subject to an overdraft fee for each withdrawal until the account returns to a positive balance.

Overdraft Privilege Opt Out:
If you do not want to have Overdraft Privilege, simply contact us and we will provide you an opt out form to remove this benefit from your account. It is important for you to consider that there is no additional cost for Overdraft Privilege and that by opting out you are instructing us to return unpaid all items presented against insufficient funds. If you opt-out, you will still be charged a returned item fee. Customers who receive a Social Security, federal direct deposit, or any other entitlement benefit must opt-out if they do not want United Bank to apply those funds to pay an overdraft.

NOTE: Please be aware that holds placed on your account for pending electronic transactions, such as hotel or rental car deposits, reduce your available balance and may cause your account to become overdrawn.

Excessive Use
We monitor accounts for chronic or excessive use. If you overdraw your account more than six times in a rolling twelve month period you will be contacted to discuss alternatives and/or continued use of Overdraft Privilege.

Online and Mobile Banking

Online Banking

Online Banking is banking at its easiest! Transfer funds, check balances or pay bills* from your home or anywhere in the world via the Internet. And best of all - it's FREE!

Online banking allows you to view all of your United Bank accounts in one convenient location. This can help you keep track of transactions to your checking and savings accounts, or CDs as soon as they post. You can use Online Banking's safety mechanisms to stop checks and update your personal contact information, view check images, pay bills online and much more.

To enroll in Online Banking from the United Bank website, click 'Consumer/Small Business Customers Click Here'. Complete the enrollment form. Once approved, you will receive an email notification to the email address you supplied during enrollment.

Person-to-Person Transfers

From any web browser, online banking users can access Pay A Person under BillPay within Online Banking. All you need is the recipient's email address or cell phone number. The recipient confirms the transfer and his or her account information, adding an extra layer of security. Pay A Person transfers are also available within our UB Mobile smartphone app. Fees may apply.

Pay a Customer

Transfer money instantly to other United Bank customers for free with "Pay a Customer". You will need the recipient's name and United Bank account number.

Bank-to-Bank Transfers

Bank-to-Bank transfers allow customers to move funds between accounts at United Bank or other institutions. This is ideal for students and parents. Fees may apply.

Expedited Billpay

Expedited billpay features same-day or next day payments when customers need payments processed quickly. Fees vary based on delivery schedules.


Mobile Banking with UB Mobile

United Bank offers Mobile Banking through our free app. Enjoy secure, on-the-go management of your United Bank accounts where you can check balances, transfer funds, make deposits, freeze your debit card and more. Download our free app to get started. Visit Apple or Google Play app stores and search 'UB Mobi'.

With Mobile Banking you can:

Mobile Check Deposit

In an environment where the evolutionary changes of our customers shape our business, United Bank continues to leverage technology to provide convenience and value to our customers. Mobile check deposit adds a level of customer interaction that is unique among community banks. Personal or business customers simply snap a photo of the front and rear of most checks and select the account where the funds will be deposited. Checks should be endorsed, "For United Bank mobile deposit only," beneath customer signature. Funds availability varies according to United Bank's deposit guidelines.

Safe Deposit Boxes


Everyone has valuable documents that need to be protected from possible damage, loss or theft. Safe Deposit Boxes are offered in a variety of sizes to provide that piece of mind. Each authorized renter will sign a contract at the time the safe deposit box is established. Each time the safe deposit box is entered, an access card must also be signed. For your protection, bank personnel carefully monitor access to the safe deposit box area. The person attempting to gain access to the safe deposit box must be listed on the contract. Replacement of a lost safe deposit box key is $50.

Safe Deposit Boxes are available at Atmore, Bay Minette, Daphne, Flomaton, Foley, Frisco City, Lillian, Monroeville, Pace, and Semmes. Call for prices and availability.

United Bank also offers Personal Storage Compartments at some locations. The contents of Safe Deposit Boxes are not FDIC Insured.

Personal Storage Compartments

Storage Compartments (PSCs) are reliable and easy-to-access storage compartments and are only available from United Bank. Available at newer United Bank locations, PSCs allow customers to store documents and other items in a safe, convenient location away from home.

PSCs feature a spacious interior that includes a felt lining to prevent damage to your belongings. An all-steel construction for durability and strength.

Access your PSC at anytime during normal business hours. You don't need a bank employee to accompany you to your PSC. No keys are required to enter your PSC - a four digit PIN is all you'll need to lock and unlock your PSC.

Checking account approval required for ownership of a Personal Storage Compartment. The cost for a PSC is $30 every 3 months, or a reduced one-time annual fee of $100.00. Payments must be electronically debited from a United Bank checking account.

Personal Storage Compartments are available at Magnolia Springs, Jay and Milton locations.

Personal Storage Compartments are not designed to offer the same security features as a traditional Safe Deposit Box or Vault. PSCs are not FDIC Insured.

When you need to replace your debit card, time is important. That's why United Bank's branches offer Card@Once instant issue debit cards. It's perfect when you need a replacement card the same day. And, you can now receive your debit card when you open an account. Our Instant Issue Debit cards are available at all of our locations, with the exception of our East Brewton Branch.
