A native of Camden, Ala., Jones joined United Bank in 1990 and became President and CEO in 1992. He is a Navy veteran and received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Auburn University. He is a graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, the ABA National Commercial Lending School, and the Professional Master of Banking School at Louisiana State University.
Currently Jones serves on the Auburn Magazine Board of Directors, the Industrial Development Board for the City of Atmore, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council and the Community Development Bankers Association.
In addition to donating his skills and talents to the organizations mentioned above, Jones serves on a number of boards associated with the American Bankers Association (ABA). He currently serves as Chairman for the American Bankers Association Fund for Economic Growth and is a current Board Member of both the ABA's Education Foundation and Card Solutions Board.
Jones' past activities and honors include Past President for the Atmore Chamber of Commerce, Past President for the Alabama Bankers Association and Past Director for the First National Bankers Bank. In 2012, Jones was elected to the Board for the American Bankers Association. In addition, he is a Past Board Member for the Bay Area Food Bank, Auburn University Alumni Association Board, Business Executive Council for the Mitchell College of Business at University of South Alabama, the South Alabama Asset Building Coalition and South Alabama Workforce Development Coalition. He was named Citizen of the Year for the City of Atmore in 1998.
