No Bounce Overdraft Privilege
At United Bank, all personal checking accounts, with the exception of Gateway Checking, include the added benefit of paid overdrafts up to $500 including fees. For important account information, please click here. Here's how it works! From time to time, we have all forgotten to record a check. As a courtesy to you, any time checks are presented for payment against insufficient funds, your checking account may be automatically overdrawn, up to your overdraft privilege limit including fees. This is not a line of credit, but instead an overdraft service provided to our customers because we understand the embarrassment and difficulties that can be involved when a simple error has occurred or you just need a little extra cash. An overdraft fee will be assessed for each item paid by the bank. Any items presented for payment in excess of the overdraft limits will be returned and a Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fee will be charged. Doesn’t the bank offer Overdraft Account Protection, or a Line of Credit for that purpose? Absolutely! We highly recommend this service for those who qualify. In fact, they complement each other. Customers with Overdraft Protection, a personal Line of Credit or a back up account, will see those funds utilized first. In the event remaining funds are needed, the account can be overdrawn up to your account limits including fees. As detailed in the Product Information Piece available from any Personal Banker, customers with Overdraft Protection will incur a small transfer fee and a nominal annual fee. Please see a Personal Banker for complete details. Is there any application to complete for the privilege? No! This privilege is given to all qualified United Bank checking account customers. No strings or applications! (New accounts must wait sixty days and their Account will be reviewed...see disclosure for details.) How will I be notified if My account becomes Overdrawn? Anytime a check is presented against insufficient funds, a notice will be sent to the account holders address. This notice will include the date the item was presented for payment, whether it was paid or not, and the amount of the processing fee. Account activity may also be monitored 24/7 in Online Banking at www.unitedbank.com or Advantage Bankline at How do I repay these funds? At your earliest opportunity, make a deposit to cover the overdrawn balance in your account. You must repay the funds within thirty (30) days to keep your overdraft privilege available to you. We encourage you to keep your account officer informed, if there will be a delay in depositing funds. |
